HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS THAT HIGHLIGHT BEAUTIFUL TYPOGRAPHY, IMAGERY, AND NEGATIVE SPACE.
Texture and Type
I created a booklet using a text excerpt from one of my favorite books, East of Eden, and integrated it with a black texture that slowly overtakes the page as the pages turn to represent the overcoming nature of death, which is a present theme throughout the book.
Type as syntax
This series treats type as movement and object with a final resolution as a stable and ordered quote. The blocks of text seem organic yet intentional and move the eye throughout all three panels of the composition.
Flip kick text
This combination of image and text highlights the dynamic energy in the photo and replicates that in the layout of type. The text uses existing guidelines and margins in the photo to feel comfortable existing in the negative space next to the composed photograph.
ordered curve type
This combination of image and type plays on the curved composition of the stairs in the left image and juxtaposes them with the vertical layout of the type. The vertical grid structure in the photo grounds the type layout and makes both compositions cohesive.
